The Program in Higher Education Leadership (PHEL) in the Department of Educational Administration (EDA) at the University of Texas at Austin seeks a highly qualified Post-doctoral Research Scholar whose research is related to postsecondary research issues. The Department is an inclusive faculty and seeks candidates that contribute to institutional diversity.  The successful candidate will have autonomy to work independently on their own research agenda but will also be expected to work collaboratively with PHEL faculty and students. The candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, meeting deadlines with timely and accurate completion of work to the highest academic standards.

The successful candidate will have research interests in one or more of the following areas: student affairs; college student success; community college leadership; community college teaching/learning; developmental education; educational policy and programs; diversity and equity issues; and/or student development and achievement. Competitive applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to P-20 perspectives and social justice in the field. Competitive applicants will need to possess strong methodological skills in quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies and have experience with appropriate analysis software such as Stata, SPSS, SAS, Atlas.ti, Dedoose, etc. Depending on the successful candidate's interests, background, and qualifications, it is possible that they will receive a teaching assignment (but teaching is not an expectation of the position).


This Post-doctoral Research Scholar position requires a doctorate in educational administration or a related social science discipline with a focus on higher education administration, community colleges, education policy, or public policy. The candidate must show evidence of research experience. The appointment will be a one-year position, and it is renewable for up to one (1) additional year (pending satisfactory progress). Eligible applicants must have completed the Ph.D./Ed.D. (i.e., defended the dissertation) no later than August 2017. The appointment could begin as early as fall 2017, and salary will be commensurate with experience.
