The College:   The B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is the largest of RIT's nine colleges, and has an enrollment of over 3,000 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students. The college, with over 100 faculty members, is housed in a modern facility equipped with numerous teaching and research laboratories. The college is home to the departments of Computer Science, Computing Security, Information Sciences and Technologies, Software Engineering, the School of Interactive Games and Media and a college-wide Ph.D. program, providing many opportunities for cooperation and research collaboration within and beyond the college. 
Computer Science Department: The department has 38 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research. We offer an ABET accredited BS degree in Computer Science which includes mandatory co-op experience, and an MS degree in Computer Science. We currently enroll over 800 undergraduate students and 450 graduate students, and have a PhD program which is administered within the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. The Computer Science department is the largest department at RIT, and our college is RIT's largest college, with an enrollment of over 3,800 students.

Detailed Job Description:

This is a one academic year position, with the potential for being renewed. 

The Visiting Lecturer will contribute to the academic mission of the Computer Science Department, and will be responsible for course preparations, formal classroom and lab teaching, new lecture and lab course development in the areas of introductory and core computer science.  The Visiting Lecturer will also be responsible for student mentoring and contributing to the advancement of the department through service assignments.  The Visiting Lecturer will engage in professional growth through activities such as further study, writing, lecturing, and active participation in professional societies.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Computer Science or related discipline. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Teaching experience in one or more computer science areas - programming, theory, algorithms, computer networks, artificial intelligence, computer vision, big data, distributed and parallel computing, etc. 
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate computer science education. 
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
