Marian University invites applications for the full-time, 10 month position of Student Success Coordinator - Financial for the department of TRIO - Student Support Services (SSS). This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by providing financial literacy services to students enrolled in the TRIO-SSS Program.

The essential functions of this position are to advise students on an individual and group basis. Assess participant needs and develop individualized financial wellness action plan with each student to assist in their understanding of: educational costs, personal expenses, debt and earning potential. Assist undergraduate students with financial aid application process and procedures, understanding rights and responsibilities, identifying and applying for scholarships and grants, guidance for loan repayment, loan exit counseling upon graduation and provide assistance in applying for post-baccalaureate degree financial aid.  Provide financial literacy education to students in the SSS program including but not limited to: understanding tuition statement, budgeting, credit cards, credit scores, taxes, cost of living, savings, negotiating salary & benefits, and creating short and long term financial goals.  Plan and implement regular office activities and monthly educational workshops to improve students' economic and financial life skills. Make referrals for SSS participants including, but not limited to: peer and/or professional tutoring, course advisement, financial services, career coaching, disability and career services, and cultural enrichment activities.  Monitor student progress and maintain detailed and accurate student records.  Manage Grant Aid process including application, selection, and application of funds in coordination with Business and Financial Aid Offices.  Reconcile departmental monthly line-item budget reports and accounting. Prepare and report monthly budget variance reports. Assist Director with creation of annual budget and monthly projections.  Provide support for assigned caseload of SSS student participants in the areas of academic coaching, student success development, career planning, personal counseling, financial literacy, and financial aid and scholarship assistance.  Assist with TRIO recruitment activities, the selection process of program participants and creating an inclusive environment supportive of college success.  Serve as liaison to Financial Aid and Business Offices to obtain the status of SSS student's aid, submission of forms, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), and determining balance/refunds.  Serve on campus committees and participate in institutional governance groups.  Ensures accurate and complete reporting data required by funding agency, to assist with program evaluation and completion of needed reports.  Remain cognizant of federal regulations governing TRIO and SSS programs per Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) curricular, with special attention on budgetary and grant aid guidelines. Continues education on federal regulations governing TRIO and SSS programs. Attend state, regional and/or national TRIO association meetings.

The qualified candidate for this role will have a Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Business, Social Work, Counseling or related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Three years of previous related experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, analytical, and time-management skills.  Strong motivational skills and commitment to holistic student success. Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with ethnically diverse individuals and groups.  Experience advising, teaching or supervising a population similar to SSS, including first-generation, low-income and students with disabilities. Knowledge of student development theory, educational advising and learning styles. Working knowledge of computers and software applications.
