The International Office at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer to become the UT Campus Recruiter. The individual that assumes this position will initiate campus-based recruitment of Peace Corps volunteers. This position is a half-time, 19-hour per week position supported by Peace Corps.

Additional Information Purpose

To provide information about Peace Corps Volunteer service opportunities to the campus community. Distribute materials, attend events, and give presentations on the opportunities. Recruit, screen, and recommend candidates to Peace Corps.

Essential Functions

Work closely with the assigned Regional Recruiter in developing a recruitment plan supporting Peace Corps' recruitment objectives. Develop a calendar planning out all recruitment activities for the upcoming semester and year. Distribute brochures, posters, visual aids, applications, and other Peace Corps recruitment materials on a monthly basis to individuals, groups, associations, faculty, and other targeted populations. Promote all public Peace Corps and recruiting events through campus media, including social media (e.g., Facebook) and campus media (e.g. radio, websites, etc.). Mentor UT Peace Corps Club and Peace Corps Ambassadors. Manage UT Peace Corps student worker. Develop and maintain a social media presence through social media platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flicker, YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest. Work closely with IO graphics team for all social media messaging. Develop and facilitate strategic recruitment activities during the year, including: Class talks or presentations to student organizations and student groups; Panels or other presentations in the community and on other campuses; Campus information sessions, panels, videos, or other presentations that are open to all students on campus; Recruiting at university career fairs, or general tabling in strategic campus locations. Develop and/or maintain partnerships and collaborations with university department heads, student organizations, RPCV groups, the University Career Center, and other campus Peace Corps programs.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience with clerical functions. Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Knowledge of Peace Corps. Extensive experience with public speaking. Strong organizational skills, including task and time management, interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively with other staff members. Ability to successfully balance multiple projects, establish priorities, work under pressure, and pay close attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team, and to meet deadlines consistently. Ability to take initiative and work without day-to-day supervision. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups. Professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor or Master Degree from an accredited university. Experience in recruiting or human resources. Familiarity with The University of Texas at Austin. Highly organized and self-motivated.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
