Reporting Relationships:

The Senior Analyst - Student Analytics reports to the Chief Enrollment Management Officer.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst-Student Analytics is responsible for leading strategies for implementation across the College so that students realize an appropriate return on their educational investment.  Students from a variety of backgrounds and school experiences come to Rasmussen to build the confidence and skills needed to succeed in their chosen career.  This role helps to identify opportunities to improve student support and the delivery of academics to our current and prospective students. This role provides broad exposure to the business and works with business leaders to better understand the effectiveness and impact that applied strategies are having on student outcomes.  50% of time is allocated to determining the best way to access, organize and present data for business owners.  25% of time is allocated to production and quality assessment of regular reports for the business.  25% of time is allocated to the development of ad-hoc analysis received from business owners to provide additional insights or detail that may not be available in standard systems or reports.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Acquiring and analyzing data
  • Working with both SQL developers and business leaders to access and present data in order to understand the effectiveness of business decisions.
  • Balancing the business needs with the data availability and collaborating with the Director of Enterprise Reporting to determine the best method for providing this information to the business.
  • Manipulating data in MS Excel, MS Access, or structuring the request for coding by the team of SQL developers.
  • Working across a variety of functions, including Academics, Marketing, and Student Support Services.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, accounting, analytics, finance or related field
  • 3 - 5 years business analyst, audit, or similar experience as an analyst
  • Proficiency with MS Access and advanced level expertise with MS Excel
  • Strong Excel skills - must be comfortable with macros and VBA;
  • Excellent demonstrated analytical skills, strong communication & writing skills
  • Experience in data acquisition and data mining, including manipulation of large data sets
  • Ability to focus on detail while considering big-picture need of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to interact with different business owners and explain the best way to provide data from our systems
  • Familiarity with SQL (intermediate or higher query writing, a plus); VBA experience preferred
  • Effective organizational and communication skills (Written & Verbal);
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment;
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Eager to take on additional responsibilities;
